Punjab Victory on PU Senate Poll Schedule turned into a strong message from Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann after Panjab University finally received approval for its senate elections. Punjab Victory on PU Senate Poll Schedule also captured the mood among students who fought for the announcement.
Mann said Panjab University stands as the “heritage of Punjab.” He praised students, teachers and faculty who stayed firm during the month-long agitation. He added that their courage converted the protest into a clear victory.
Vice-President C P Radhakrishnan, the university’s chancellor, approved the schedule on Thursday. His office sent the confirmation to Vice-Chancellor Renu Vig. The elections will take place from September 7 to October 4, 2026.
Students celebrated the decision and called it a win for their united struggle. Their protest began after the Centre announced changes to the structure of PU’s senate and syndicate. The Ministry of Education later withdrew the notification on November 7. Students, however, continued the protest until the election dates were announced.
Political groups such as the AAP, Shiromani Akali Dal, and several farmer and religious bodies supported the protest. Their support added strength to the student movement and pushed the demand forward.
