Rachakonda Sees 15.4% Rise in Crime in 2025; Women and Children Most Affected

Crime in the Rachakonda commissionerate witnessed a significant rise in 2025, with total registered cases increasing by 15.4%, according to the Annual Report released on Sunday. The data highlights growing law-and-order challenges in the rapidly urbanising region on the outskirts of Hyderabad.
Crimes against women recorded an overall increase of 4%, indicating persistent concerns around women’s safety. Officials noted that while efforts such as awareness programmes, patrols, and fast-track investigations continued, offences related to sexual harassment and crimes against children remain major areas of concern. Cases under child protection laws showed worrying trends, underscoring the need for stronger preventive measures and community involvement.
Police authorities attributed the rise in crime partly to population growth, improved reporting mechanisms, and increased public confidence in approaching law enforcement. The report also stressed the importance of technology-driven policing, inter-departmental coordination, and focused intervention in vulnerable areas.
Senior officials said targeted strategies and stricter enforcement would be prioritised in 2026 to address these challenges and improve public safety across the commissionerate.
