Rahul Gandhi, Kharge Discuss Congress’ Bihar Poll Debacle; Party Reiterates ‘Vote Chori’ Allegation
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi met party president Mallikarjun Kharge to review the party’s severe setback in the Bihar Assembly elections. The Congress won only six of the 61 seats it contested, marking its second-worst performance in the State since 2010, when it secured just four seats.
During the meeting, the leaders assessed organisational lapses, alliance dynamics, and the factors behind the party’s declining influence in Bihar. Even as internal discussions continue, the Congress has doubled down on its allegation of ‘vote chori’, claiming irregularities and procedural violations during the election process.
The party leadership emphasised the need for introspection and restructuring while also demanding transparency from the Election Commission. The meeting is expected to be the first in a series of consultations aimed at rebuilding the party’s strategy and grassroots presence in the State ahead of future electoral battles.
