Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of being afraid of U.S. President Donald Trump, alleging that Modi’s silence over Trump’s recent remarks reflects weakness in leadership. Rahul pointed out that despite Trump’s claim that Modi had promised not to buy oil from Russia, the Prime Minister has not responded or clarified the statement.
He further criticized Modi for skipping the Peace Summit in Egypt and for maintaining a soft stance toward the U.S., even when Trump made controversial comments about “Operation Sindhoor” and other international issues. Rahul argued that India’s foreign policy under Modi has become submissive and inconsistent, compromising national interests for political convenience.
The remarks have reignited political debate over India–U.S. relations and the government’s diplomatic posture ahead of key global meetings.
