The 26-year-old woman had boarded the Amritsar–Saharsa special train in New Delhi to return to her home in Buxar. She planned to get off at Sonpur and travel onward, but the train did not stop there.
At Sonpur, she told railway staff that someone had stolen her ticket and luggage. She then met a railway worker, identified as Sunil Kumar, who offered to help her. He took her to his government quarter near the station.
Around 3 am on Monday, he allegedly attacked her. The woman managed to escape and informed a patrolling guard.
Police registered an FIR, arrested the accused, and sent him to judicial custody. Doctors conducted her medical examination. Investigation is ongoing.
