Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has announced financial aid for the families affected by the Jodhpur–Jaisalmer Highway bus tragedy. The accident occurred near Thaiyat village in Jodhpur district on Tuesday, claiming 21 lives when a passenger bus caught fire after an engine malfunction.
The Chief Minister approved ₹10 lakh each for the dependents of the deceased. Families that lost three or more members will receive ₹25 lakh each. For the seriously injured, ₹2 lakh has been sanctioned, while the other injured will get ₹1 lakh each.
Expressing deep grief, CM Sharma said the state government stands firmly with the affected families. He also directed officials to ensure the best medical care for the injured and full support for the victims’ families. Relief provisions were relaxed under the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to provide quick assistance.
The Prime Minister’s Relief Fund also announced ₹2 lakh each for the families of the deceased and ₹50,000 for the injured. Local authorities and fire personnel carried out rescue operations soon after the incident, supported by villagers who rushed to help.
