A major corruption scandal has surfaced in Rajasthan’s transport department over illegal VIP vehicle number allotments. Authorities have registered the first FIR in the long-discussed three-digit number scam. The complaint was filed at Jaipur’s Gandhinagar police station by RTO First Rajendra Singh Shekhawat. The case has sent shockwaves across the department.

Officials allegedly distributed VIP and fancy vehicle numbers like giveaways. Investigators claim officers manipulated official records and created forged documents. The illegal allotments caused an estimated loss of nearly ₹500 crore to the state exchequer. Police have booked 39 officials under serious sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

The accused include senior transport officials and staff members. Names mentioned in the FIR include Joint Commissioner Dharmpal Aasiwal, RTO Indu Meena, ARTO Prakash Tahliani, DTO Sanjay Sharma, and several clerks. Authorities have also initiated action against more than a dozen other employees.

Officials revealed that at least 2,129 vehicles received three-digit numbers illegally. Gandhinagar SHO Bhajanlal confirmed revenue losses due to manipulated fancy number allocations.

Sources said RTO Rajendra Singh Shekhawat uncovered the scam during an internal review. The state government’s strict stance may lead to similar FIRs in other districts. Police have begun a detailed investigation.
