The Rajya Sabha Elections in Bihar have brought good news for the ruling NDA alliance. A special MP-MLA court in Patna has allowed jailed Mokama MLA Anant Singh to cast his vote in the Rajya Sabha Elections scheduled for March 16.
The court accepted a petition filed by Singh’s lawyer. The plea requested permission for him to vote because he is an elected MLA and a voter in the assembly. After hearing the case, the court directed jail authorities to take him to the Bihar Assembly under tight police security so he can cast his vote.
Singh is currently lodged in Beur Jail in connection with the Dularchand Yadav murder case. Authorities will bring him to the assembly only for voting and return him to jail immediately after the process.
Bihar will vote for five Rajya Sabha seats on March 16. Political observers say every vote matters, especially in the contest for the fifth seat. Singh’s vote could strengthen the NDA’s chances in the election.
