Rama Nishad won from the Aurai Assembly seat on a BJP ticket and later became a minister in the Nitish Kumar government. She was the first woman MLA from Muzaffarpur district to enter the cabinet. Her victory margin placed her among the top 10 MLAs in Bihar.
She has served as ward councillor, vice-president, and chairperson of Hajipur Municipal Council. She worked under the guidance of her father-in-law, former Union Minister Captain Jaynarayan Nishad. Her husband, Ajay Nishad, is a two-time MP.
In 2007 and 2012, she won the Hajipur Nagar Parishad elections with record votes. She also handled key responsibilities during several Lok Sabha elections, including 2009, 2014, and 2019. In 2024, when her husband joined Congress, she supported him and stayed active in the campaign.
Her career continues to inspire many women in Bihar.
