Ramesh Chennithala Accuses Minister Saji Cherian of Fomenting Communal Polarisation Ahead of Assembly Polls
Former Kerala Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala on Sunday accused Kerala Minister Saji Cherian of attempting to foment communal polarisation ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections. Chennithala described Cherian’s recent remarks as divisive and warned that such statements were detrimental to social harmony and the democratic process.
He alleged that Cherian’s comments were part of a larger CPI(M) strategy to divide society along caste and religious lines to secure electoral advantage. Chennithala emphasised that exploiting social and religious differences for political gain threatens the secular and inclusive fabric of the State.
The former minister called on political leaders across parties to uphold communal harmony and refrain from making statements that could incite tension or division. Chennithala stressed the need for a responsible political discourse, urging the CPI(M) leadership to focus on development and governance rather than polarising communities. Citizens, he added, must remain vigilant against attempts to manipulate social identities for electoral purposes.
