The first phase of the Bihar Assembly elections ended peacefully, but tensions rose soon after. Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) shared a video alleging irregularities in the Hajipur strong room of Vaishali district.
RJD posted the video on its official X handle. The party claimed that CCTV cameras of different constituencies were turned off one by one during the night. It also alleged that pickup vans entered and left the strong room at odd hours.
RJD accused the Election Commission of working under pressure from a “vote thief” from Delhi. The party said some officials even visited his hotel to report secretly. RJD added that Bihar would not allow outsiders to destroy its democracy.
Vaishali District Magistrate Varsha Singh said the administration had taken the matter seriously. She confirmed that an investigation was underway and promised an update soon.
Reports suggest that representatives of candidates filmed the video. In the clip, a man says the CCTV of Mahnar constituency went off at 11:53 p.m. A pickup van is also seen leaving the area.
Voting in eight Vaishali constituencies, including Hajipur and Mahnar, took place on November 6. The district recorded 59.45% voter turnout.
