Road-Rail Satellite Station Proposed to Boost Vijayawada Transport, Says MP
Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath has urged the Union government to set up a road-rail satellite station to ease transport pressure and improve logistics in the city. He said the facility would support smoother movement of passengers and goods.
In a representation submitted to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, the MP explained that Vijayawada has grown into a major transport hub. Heavy traffic, limited space, and rising freight movement have created daily challenges for commuters and traders.
Sivanath said a satellite station linking road and rail networks would reduce congestion at the main railway station. It would also help trucks and buses avoid crowded city routes. According to him, logistics companies and small traders would benefit from faster and cheaper movement of goods.
The MP highlighted Vijayawada’s strategic location in Andhra Pradesh. He said better infrastructure would strengthen trade, attract investment, and create jobs. He also noted that passengers traveling from nearby districts would find journeys more comfortable.
Sivanath requested a detailed feasibility study and early approval for the project. He stressed that timely action would help Vijayawada meet future transport demands.
