Rushikonda buildings should serve tourism purpose, says TDP leader
Rushikonda buildings should serve tourism purpose, Andhra Pradesh Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president Palla Srinivasa Rao said on Sunday. He argued that the large structures constructed at Rushikonda were meant to boost tourism and should not be converted into government offices.
Speaking in Visakhapatnam, Mr. Rao said the buildings were developed on land belonging to the Tourism Department. He pointed out that nearly ₹1,000 crore of public money was spent on the project. Using such costly infrastructure for administrative offices, he said, would not be financially practical.
The TDP leader suggested that the buildings would be better used as hotels, resorts, or tourism-related facilities. Such use, he explained, could generate steady revenue and create employment opportunities for local people.
Mr. Rao also stated that Rushikonda has strong potential as a tourist destination due to its scenic coastline. Proper utilisation of the buildings for tourism would help attract visitors and support the regional economy.
