Russia hit Ukraine’s capital with drones and missiles on Sunday in the largest strike since the war began. The attack killed at least two people and injured 15 others. Smoke was seen rising from Kyiv’s Cabinet of Ministers building, which sustained heavy damage.

Officials said Russia launched 805 drones and decoys, along with 13 missiles. Ukraine’s Air Force reported shooting down 747 drones and four missiles, but debris still struck 37 locations across the country. At least nine missiles and 56 drones hit targets, leaving wreckage scattered in several regions.

Ukraine’s Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko confirmed that the government building in Kyiv suffered major damage for the first time, with its roof and upper floors destroyed. She vowed to rebuild but said, “Lost lives cannot be returned.” Among the victims was a one-year-old child, whose body was pulled from rubble.

Svyrydenko called for stronger international action against Russia, including more pressure on its vital oil and gas sector. She stressed that Ukraine needs not only words but concrete steps to deter further escalation. Russia hit Ukraine’s capital with drones and missiles in its deadliest aerial assault since the full-scale invasion began.
