Russia Warns US Over NATO Airspace Tensions

Russia Warns US Over NATO

Russia’s top diplomat has warned the United States of a strong response if any aggression occurs. This comes after US President Donald Trump supported the idea of shooting down Russian planes that enter NATO airspace.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told the UN General Assembly that Russia has no plans to attack NATO or European Union countries. But he emphasized that any attack on Russia would be met decisively.

In recent weeks, several NATO countries reported Russian fighter jets and drones violating their airspace, suggesting Moscow may be testing the alliance. When asked about shooting down Russian planes, Trump replied, “Yes, I do.”

Although Trump once praised Russian President Vladimir Putin and invited him to talks in Alaska, his tone has changed. Trump now says Ukraine should reclaim all territories taken by Russia, and possibly even cross its borders.

Despite this, Lavrov still praised Trump for showing a willingness to find realistic solutions for Ukraine and for seeking pragmatic cooperation without letting ideology interfere. Russia has yet to face new US economic sanctions promised in response to the Ukraine invasion.
