The key phrase “SAD accuses AAP of shielding gangsters” shapes the political tension in Punjab. SAD accuses AAP of shielding gangsters as crime incidents rise across the state. Senior Akali Dal leader Parmbans Singh Romana said Punjab is facing a serious law-and-order crisis under the AAP government.
Romana said four major firing incidents happened in just 48 hours, causing four deaths and several injuries. He highlighted recent attacks in Amritsar, Chheharta, and Banga, stressing that the violence reflects the government’s failure to control organised crime.
He said people still remember the killings of Sidhu Moosewala and several sportsmen and traders during the AAP tenure. Romana also accused the government of enabling gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s televised interview while he was in police custody.
He said the escape of gangster Deepak Tinu and the free access given to gang networks show complete administrative collapse. Romana alleged that some AAP MLAs have direct links with criminals.
He said AAP misused power during the Tarn Taran bypoll and added that officers faced action for misconduct. Romana warned that industries are leaving Punjab due to rising insecurity. He demanded Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann resign as Home Minister for failing to maintain peace.
