Saharsa District Seats Results Update: NDA Leads Key Assembly Battles

Saharsa District

Counting began this morning on all four assembly seats in Saharsa district—Saharsa, Mahishi, Simri Bakhtiyarpur and Sonvarsha (SC). Early trends show a strong performance by the NDA, which currently leads on three seats. The RJD is ahead on only one seat. The final results are expected by afternoon.

In Saharsa, BJP candidate Alok Ranjan leads with 21,184 votes, giving him a margin of 7,791 votes over IIP’s Indrajit Prasad Gupta. In Mahishi, RJD’s Gautam Krishna has gained an edge with 34,087 votes, while JDU’s Gunjeshwar Shah follows with 29,913 votes.

Simri Bakhtiyarpur shows LJP’s Sanjay Kumar Singh leading with 21,951 votes and a margin of 4,899 over RJD’s Yusuf Salahuddin. In Sonbarsha, JDU’s Ratnesh Sada leads with 18,831 votes. Congress candidate Sarita Devi has 15,303 votes.

Counting teams are working across 14 tables and one additional table in each centre. Officials began with postal ballots at 8 AM. EVMs opened at 8:30 AM. Constituencies with fewer booths may see at least 25 rounds of counting, while larger ones may cross 30 rounds.

In 2020, the NDA won three of the four seats. Early numbers suggest a similar trend this year.
