He served as a minister and later as an MLA from Parbatta. In 2017, he joined the BJP after leaving regional parties and soon became one of the party’s key OBC leaders.
The BJP leadership trusted him with important responsibilities. He served as Bihar BJP president and later became Deputy Chief Minister in the Nitish Kumar government. His strong organisational skills and political influence helped him gain the party’s confidence.
In April 2026, Samrat Choudhary took oath as Bihar’s Chief Minister, becoming the first BJP leader to hold the top post in the state.
