Members of Sanatani Oikyo Mancha staged widespread protests across West Bengal on Wednesday against the alleged torture and killing of Dipu Das in Bangladesh. Demonstrations were held in Kolkata and several border districts, reflecting growing anger over violence against religious minorities in the neighbouring country.

In Kolkata, protesters gathered in front of the Deputy High Commission of Bangladesh and near the iconic Howrah Bridge. Slogans were raised demanding justice for Dipu Das and accountability from Bangladeshi authorities. Similar protests were organised in multiple districts along the India-Bangladesh border.

In Jalpaiguri district, political workers demonstrated near the Indo-Bangladesh immigration check post at Fulbari. In Coochbehar, protesters blocked a road leading to the international border near Changrabandha. Police and Border Security Force personnel later intervened and dispersed the crowd to restore order.

Protests were also reported from Malda, where demonstrators gathered at Muchia. In North 24 Parganas, members of the organisation blocked roads near the Ghojadanga land port at Basirhat. The movement briefly disrupted the passage of Indian trucks and goods vehicles headed towards Bangladesh. A protest rally was also held near the Petrapole border in Bongaon.

Protesters questioned the role of Bangladesh’s interim government led by Muhammad Yunus. They alleged failure to stop targeted attacks on minorities and demanded international attention to the issue.
