Sand Mafia Steals Seized Sand Worth Crores in Bihar

Bihar sand mafia loot case, seized sand theft during Bihar elections

The Bihar sand mafia loot case has created serious concern during the Bihar Assembly elections. A large campaign was launched to stop illegal sand mining in Patna, Bhojpur, Saran, and other districts. The Economic Offences Unit (EOU) and local police seized huge quantities of illegal sand. But during the election period, the Bihar sand mafia loot continued as mafias stole and sold the seized sand worth crores of rupees.

Officials found that after big raids in Koilwar in Bhojpur, Son River banks in Patna, and sand ghats in Saran, large sand deposits went missing. Around ₹12 crore worth of sand was detected in four Patna police station limits: Bihta, Ranitallab, Bikram, and Maner.

In Bihta’s Pandeychak and Kelhanpur, 1.95 lakh CFT of sand worth ₹2.13 crore was found. In Bindol and Ghoratop, 1.32 lakh CFT worth ₹1.45 crore was recovered. Other areas like Dhana, Kab, Mathiatola, Lahaldpur, Budhu Chhapra, Jitan Chhapra, and Barah also showed huge missing sand amounts.

The Mines and Geology Department has ordered strict action. Landowners linked to illegal sand storage will be identified. A report has been sought after measurement, and FIRs will be filed against those involved.
