Sangam Kumar Sahu 47th Chief Justice of Patna High Court took the oath of office on Wednesday at a formal ceremony in Patna. Governor Arif Mohammad Khan administered the oath at Raj Bhavan in the presence of senior judges and top state officials.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, ministers, senior bureaucrats, and judges of the Patna High Court attended the event. The ceremony marked the official beginning of Justice Sahu’s tenure as the 47th Chief Justice of the court.
Justice Sahu was earlier serving as a judge of the Orissa High Court. The Supreme Court Collegium recommended his name for the post, and the Central Government approved the appointment recently.
Born on June 5, 1964, Justice Sahu has decades of legal experience. He began his career as an advocate and later earned recognition for his work as a High Court judge. Legal experts believe his experience will help improve the efficiency of the judiciary in Bihar.
After the oath ceremony, a welcome program was also held at the Patna High Court. Judges, lawyers, and court staff greeted the new Chief Justice and expressed confidence in his leadership.
