Sanjay Mukherjee: Building a Mumbai Where Travel Takes Minutes, Not Hours
Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) Chief Sanjay Mukherjee has outlined a bold vision for the city’s future: enabling seamless travel across Mumbai “in minutes.” In a recent statement, he revealed that MMRDA is currently developing over 300 kilometers of crucial infrastructure, including metro rail corridors, elevated roads, and key connectivity projects. The goal is to drastically reduce travel time, ease congestion, and enhance urban mobility across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
Mukherjee emphasized that projects such as the Metro Lines, the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link, and several multimodal hubs are central to transforming how Mumbaikars commute. He added that the focus remains on sustainable, inclusive, and future-ready infrastructure. With coordinated planning and rapid execution, MMRDA aims to reshape Mumbai’s transport landscape, making daily commutes faster, smoother, and more efficient for millions of residents. The vision is ambitious, but the groundwork is already well underway.
