A major Sasaram counting centre uproar broke out in Bihar on Wednesday night. The trouble began when the CCTV camera inside the strong room suddenly went off. Soon after, a truck entered the Takiya Bazar Committee premises. This raised suspicion among candidates. They said the CCTV at the gate also stopped working. The Sasaram counting centre uproar grew quickly as information about the strong room was no longer visible.
Candidates accused officials of possible EVM tampering. They gathered at the gate and demanded answers. Supporters also joined them, and the protest grew louder. After three hours, the truck was taken out, but the candidates stopped it again and asked why it entered without permission.
By 2:30 a.m., candidates from all seven constituencies reached the spot. Police forces arrived and used lathis to control the crowd. Some people, including a candidate and a journalist, were injured. The police called the lathicharge justified, but many protesters disagreed.
Officials later said the truck belonged to the Chenari constituency and carried only an empty box. The area has now been turned into a police camp, and vehicles are stopped from moving toward Takiya for safety.
