SCR to Run Additional Sankranti Special Trains from January 8 to 12
South Central Railway (SCR) has announced additional Sankranti Special trains to accommodate the increased passenger demand during the festival season. The special trains will operate between January 8 and 12, 2026, covering major routes across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and neighbouring states.
Officials said the additional services aim to ease travel for devotees, families, and tourists travelling to popular destinations during the Sankranti festival. Reservations for these trains will be available through the official railway booking platforms and counters, and passengers are advised to plan and book early due to high demand.
The SCR has also stepped up operational arrangements, including extra coaches, enhanced on-board catering, and additional staff to ensure smooth and safe travel. Security measures will be intensified at major stations to manage crowds effectively, and timetable adjustments have been communicated to avoid congestion on regular services.
Passengers are urged to check schedules and platform information in advance. The initiative reflects SCR’s efforts to ensure convenient and comfortable travel during peak festive periods.
