In the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, the Seemanchal region witnessed record-breaking voter participation. The Seemanchal voter turnout surged to over 15 percent higher than the last election, indicating growing public involvement.
Katihar recorded the highest vote share at 79.10 percent, followed by Kishanganj at 78.16 percent. Long queues of women and youth were seen across polling stations, proving the rising political awareness in the region. Despite minor delays due to EVM issues, people remained patient and determined to cast their votes.
Historically, Seemanchal has been a closely contested zone between the NDA, Grand Alliance, and AIMIM. In 2020, the NDA struggled in Kishanganj, while AIMIM and the Grand Alliance dominated. This year’s massive participation may bring a shift in results. However, residents of Devi Nagar village boycotted the polls, demanding better roads.
