Self-Defence Training in A.P.: Over 4 Lakh Students Trained, Says DGP

Self-Defence Training in A.P.

Self-defence training in A.P. has crossed a major milestone, with more than four lakh students trained across the State. Director General of Police Harish Kumar Gupta shared this update, highlighting how self-defence training in A.P. is strengthening student safety and confidence.

The programme now covers 12,873 schools and 1,315 colleges. Trained instructors regularly visit campuses to teach basic self-protection techniques. Students also learn confidence-building methods and how to react calmly during emergencies.

Girl students have shown strong interest in these sessions. Many say the training helps them feel safer and more alert in daily life. Teachers and parents have also welcomed the initiative, noting visible improvements in discipline and emotional strength among students.

The police department is working closely with education officials to ensure the programme reaches both urban and rural areas. Several institutions have started follow-up workshops so students can practise the skills regularly.

Officials say the main goal is to create safer campuses and prepare young people for real-life situations. The DGP confirmed that the department plans to expand the programme further and introduce advanced training modules in the coming months.
