Seven Israeli Hostages Return Home

Seven Israeli hostages returned home after over two years in Hamas captivity, with more releases expected soon.

Seven Israeli hostages have returned to Israel after more than two years in Hamas captivity. The released hostages include Gali and Ziv Berman, Matan Angrest, Alon Ohel, Omri Miran, Eitan Mor, and Guy Gilboa-Dallal.

The Red Cross handed the hostages to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in the Gaza Strip. The IDF confirmed that the hostages are now on their way home and will undergo medical assessments upon arrival. Commanders and soldiers welcomed the returnees, urging the public to respect their privacy and follow official updates.

Hamas announced earlier that it would release 20 Israeli captives in the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire and prisoner exchange deal. Thirteen additional hostages are expected to be released later from different areas in Gaza. Hamas stated that the agreement reflects the resilience of its fighters and the steadfastness of its people.

Thousands of Israelis gathered at the Nova site for special holiday prayers, marking the location where hundreds were taken hostage during the October 7, 2023 attack. The IDF has stated it is prepared to receive more hostages later, continuing the phased transfer process.
