The situation escalated after police arrested Sikandar Alam, who allegedly sheltered foreign nationals illegally. Officers tracked him to Jajpur using surveillance teams and decoy operations. Alongside the verification drives, officials have also started clearing encroached government land. Several makeshift homes in localities such as Berhampur and Dhanipur were removed in the past week, and some occupants left voluntarily.
Jagatsinghpur now remains under tighter watch as enforcement agencies widen their investigation.
