Akal Takht orders compliance remains final for the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee in the 328 saroops case. SGPC officials on Tuesday said they will not assist police or share records. They said Sri Akal Takht Sahib issued clear directions on the sensitive matter.
Speaking after an officials’ meeting in Amritsar, SGPC secretary Pratap Singh said the institution respects Akal Takht authority. He said SGPC already completed action against guilty employees. The action followed the inquiry report ordered by Sri Akal Takht Sahib.
Pratap Singh said three employees misused offerings and manipulated records. He named Kanwaljit Singh, Baj Singh, and Dalbir Singh as directly responsible. He said their acts damaged SGPC’s image and internal system. SGPC completed disciplinary action under service rules, he added.
He explained the approved process for issuing saroops. SGPC verifies requests through reports and member recommendations. Officers then grant approval at the secretary level. Officials deposit offerings, issue receipts, and enter records properly. The accused staff ignored this process, he said.
SGPC officials also criticised Aam Aadmi Party leaders for alleged baseless statements. They said such remarks harm Sikh institutions and traditions. Officials denied claims about any personal diary holding saroop records. They clarified that departments maintain official ledgers only.
SGPC appealed to the Punjab government to respect Akal Takht orders. Officials reiterated that no cooperation with police is possible under those directives.
