Sri Vijaya Puram, January 2, 2026: Shah Andamans Parliamentary Panel visit begins today as Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrives in Sri Vijaya Puram for a three-day tour. The Shah Andamans Parliamentary Panel meeting will focus on key national and internal security issues.

A senior official said Amit Shah will land at Veer Savarkar International Airport around 9:30 p.m. Lieutenant Governor Admiral (Retd) D.K. Joshi and senior officers will receive him on arrival.

On January 3, Amit Shah will chair the Parliamentary Consultative Committee meeting of the Ministry of Home Affairs at Wandoor. Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai and several Members of Parliament will also attend the meeting.

Later in the day, Amit Shah will participate in an event on the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Institute of Technology auditorium in Dollygunj. He may also address a public gathering at ITF Ground or Netaji Stadium.

This marks Shah’s second visit to Sri Vijaya Puram in less than a month. He earlier visited on December 12 to attend an event marking the anniversary of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar’s poem.

Meanwhile, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan has also arrived in the islands. He will visit Car Nicobar and interact with senior defence officials.

Following these visits, authorities have tightened security. The district administration has banned drones and aerial activities in sensitive areas until January 4.
