The Social Security Pension scheme in Bihar has benefited more than 86 lakh people across the state. The government transferred the March pension amount directly to beneficiaries’ bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system. The Social Security Pension program supports elderly people, widows, and persons with disabilities across the state.
Officials said around 86.74 lakh Social Security Pension beneficiaries received their payments after financial approval. The government released over ₹1,100 crore to ensure that beneficiaries received the money on time. Authorities also confirmed that the payment reached people who completed their life-certificate verification.
The Social Welfare Department said the state did not need any loan to pay salaries and pensions. The finance department has also approved about ₹3,900 crore for the next three months of pension payments, which will ensure regular support for beneficiaries.
Some people have not yet received the pension because they still need to complete life verification. Officials said these beneficiaries will get their pending amount along with the next payment once verification is completed.
