Odissi dancer Dona Ganguly, wife of former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly, has lodged a formal police complaint after facing a series of obscene and derogatory comments on social media. Dona approached the Thakurpukur Police Station late Wednesday night, alleging that a Facebook page had been repeatedly posting objectionable, vulgar and body-shaming remarks targeting her following her performance at the Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF).
Police officials confirmed that a case has been registered against unknown individuals under relevant sections related to cyber harassment and online abuse. The complaint highlights continuous trolling, including sexually explicit comments and personal attacks, prompting Dona to seek legal action.
This is not the first time she has taken the cyber route for protection. Earlier in March 2025, Dona filed a complaint with the Kolkata Police cyber cell against a female YouTuber for allegedly spreading defamatory content about the Ganguly family. That complaint challenged multiple claims made by a self-styled influencer, who accused the family of negligence toward an ailing vegetable vendor and even shared images of their residence and vehicle.
With online harassment and cyberbullying increasingly targeting public personalities, the police have assured a thorough probe into the latest incident.
