In Telangana, Speaker Gaddam Prasad has issued notices to six MLAs over alleged party defections. The legislators include Sanjay, Pocharam, Yadayya, Venkata Rao, Krishnamohan Reddy, and Mahipal Reddy. The Speaker sought clarification on whether they had officially switched parties.
While the MLAs denied any defection, Prasad was reportedly not convinced with their explanations and has asked them to provide stronger evidence to support their claims. Sources indicate that the Speaker is preparing to begin trial proceedings soon to examine the matter in detail. The issue of party defection has long been a sensitive political concern in the state, as shifting loyalties could affect the balance of power in the Assembly.
The upcoming inquiry will determine whether the MLAs violated anti-defection rules and what disciplinary action , if any, will follow. This development has intensified political debate in Telangana ahead of key legislative decisions.
