The Speaker of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly, Ayyanna Patrudu, has ruled that YS Jagan, the leader of YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), cannot be recognized as the Leader of Opposition. He criticized the conduct of YSRCP MLAs in the Assembly, stating that their behavior does not justify conferring such a prestigious position.
In a controversial remark, the Speaker said, “I am like a priest in a temple, and you have not been granted a blessing by God. What can I do about it? Even if you approach a court, it will not change anything.” He emphasized that if the government makes mistakes, the proper course is to raise issues in the Assembly, not to create obstruction. The Speaker further warned that he would not allow YSRCP MLAs to disrupt proceedings, underlining the importance of discipline and decorum in the legislature.
