Stalemate Continues as Karnataka HC Split Verdict Halts MBBS, BDS Counselling

A stalemate continues over the third round of counselling for MBBS and BDS seats in Karnataka after the High Court delivered divergent verdicts on the Karnataka Examinations Authority’s (KEA) allotment procedure. Multiple candidates had filed petitions alleging irregularities in the way seats were assigned during the third round of counselling. In a split judgment, one judge upheld the KEA’s method, while the other found merit in the petitioners’ objections.
Because of the conflicting opinions, the matter will now be placed before a third judge, who will deliver the decisive ruling. Until then, the counselling process remains suspended, putting on hold the allotment for nearly 900 medical and dental seats across the State. The delay has added to the anxiety of hundreds of aspirants awaiting clarity on their admission status. Officials indicated that further action would depend entirely on the outcome of the third judge’s decision, expected in the coming days.
