Stalin Writes to PM Modi Over Metro Rail Project Rejection
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressing surprise and concern over the Centre’s rejection of Metro Rail proposals for Coimbatore and Madurai. In his letter, Stalin noted that the denial was unexpected and urged the Union Government to reconsider, emphasizing the projects’ importance for urban development and sustainable transportation in the two major cities.
Stalin highlighted that metro systems are crucial for easing traffic congestion, reducing pollution, and supporting economic growth. He also stressed that timely approval and implementation of such infrastructure projects are vital to meet the growing mobility needs of urban populations.
The Chief Minister’s communication reflects ongoing tensions between the state and central authorities over urban infrastructure development. He requested a detailed explanation for the rejection and appealed for reconsideration to ensure that citizens of Coimbatore and Madurai benefit from modern, efficient public transport solutions.
