Tension has escalated at Andhra University in Visakhapatnam following student protests over the recent death of a student, Manikanta, due to illness. Students gathered outside the Registrar’s office yesterday, demanding justice for the deceased and highlighting concerns over inadequate medical facilities and poor infrastructure within the university.
The protests intensified when students attempted to enter the Registrar’s office, calling for the resignation of the Vice-Chancellor. Demonstrators raised slogans demanding accountability and immediate improvements in campus healthcare and amenities. University officials have expressed concern over the unrest and urged students to maintain calm while the administration addresses their grievances.
The incident has drawn attention to broader issues of student welfare and safety on campus. Authorities are expected to engage in dialogue with the student body to resolve the situation and ensure that proper measures are taken to prevent similar incidents in the future, maintaining peace and order at the university.
