Supreme Court Committee Reviews Chevella Accident, Orders Stricter Vehicle Fitness Checks
The Supreme Court Committee on Road Safety reviewed the recent Chevella road accident in Hyderabad, emphasizing stricter enforcement of vehicle safety norms. During the review, the Committee directed officials to verify the fitness certificates of Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) buses, as well as other buses and commercial vehicles operating in the region. Authorities were instructed to seize any vehicle found operating without a valid fitness certificate to prevent future accidents. The Committee also called for rigorous inspections, regular maintenance audits, and strict adherence to road safety regulations to ensure passenger safety. Officials were asked to submit compliance reports and detailed action plans for immediate corrective measures. The review comes amid growing concerns over road safety and the rising number of accidents involving public transport vehicles.
