Assam Professor Bail News made headlines as the Supreme Court granted bail to a former Assam college professor for posting “anti-India” content on social media. The court clarified that this relief does not mean he can resume his college job.

The bench of Chief Justice Sunil Suryakant and Justice Joymaly Bagchi noted that the professor faces two other cases, including harassment allegations involving female students and objectionable online comments. Considering he spent over six months in jail, the court approved bail on the condition that he attends all hearings.

Earlier, the court had described him as “perverted” and a “threat to young girls,” emphasizing he should not enter the college premises. The professor’s lawyer told the court that he had apologized and removed the post that led to his arrest on May 16.

The Supreme Court directed the Assam government to maintain his suspension from the college pending other cases.
