The Surat suicide tragedy came to light after neighbours informed police when the family did not respond to calls. Officers rushed to the flat and discovered the couple and their elder daughter unconscious.
Police said the family consumed poison. Doctors later declared the husband, wife and nine-year-old daughter dead. The couple’s younger daughter survived and is receiving treatment.
Investigators recovered a suicide note from the house. The note accuses a man of constant harassment and financial pressure. The family claimed he misused a credit card and threatened them over money disputes.
Police registered a case of abetment to suicide and criminal intimidation. Officers are searching for the accused and continue questioning people in the Vesu area.
