Tension rose in Lingampalli village of Tungaturthi constituency during the first phase of the Sarpanch elections. Clashes broke out between local Congress workers and BRS leaders. In this violence, BRS leader Uppula Mallayya died on the spot due to severe injuries. Seven others suffered wounds, and police rushed them to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Former minister and BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao strongly condemned the attack. He criticised the ruling Congress, saying the party was promoting fear during the polls. After learning about the incident, he spoke with former minister Jagadish Reddy and former MLA Gadari Kishore to review the situation on the ground.
KTR accused Congress workers of acting with arrogance and resorting to physical violence in the village. He stated that such attacks showed the party’s decline. He assured that the BRS party would continue to stand firm and would not allow any intimidation. He also urged officials to maintain peace in the region.
KTR encouraged party workers and asked them not to lose confidence. He promised full support to the family of the deceased leader and the injured victims. He demanded strict action against those responsible for the attack. He also called for immediate justice for the affected families.
