Suresh Gopi Renews Demand for AIIMS in Kerala’s Alappuzha
Union Minister and MP Suresh Gopi has once again strongly advocated for the establishment of an All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Alappuzha, Kerala. Speaking at an event in Thrissur, Gopi declared that he would not seek votes in the next election unless the foundation stone for AIIMS is laid in the state. Emphasizing Kerala’s urgent need for a premier medical institution, he said the project would transform healthcare accessibility and boost medical research and education. The minister noted that Kerala, despite its high health indicators, still lacks a central medical institute of national stature. Gopi added that he is in regular touch with Union Health Ministry officials to expedite the proposal and secure necessary approvals. His renewed push comes amid growing public and political demand for AIIMS in Kerala to strengthen the state’s healthcare infrastructure and reduce patient burden on existing hospitals.
