Suspended DIG HS Bhullar gets bail after a local CBI court granted him relief in a disproportionate assets (DA) case on Tuesday. The court allowed bail after hearing arguments from both sides. The case relates to assets allegedly beyond his known sources of income.
The Central Bureau of Investigation had earlier arrested Harcharan Singh Bhullar in a corruption case. During the probe, the agency also registered a separate disproportionate assets case against him. Following his arrest, authorities placed Bhullar under suspension from service.
The CBI alleged that Bhullar accumulated assets that did not match his declared income. Investigators conducted searches and collected financial records as part of the inquiry. The defence argued that the investigation remains ongoing and sought bail on legal grounds.
The court observed that further custody was not required at this stage. It granted bail with standard conditions, including cooperation with the investigation. Bhullar will need to appear before the court whenever required.
The case continues to draw attention due to Bhullar’s senior rank in the police force. Legal proceedings in both corruption and DA cases will continue in the coming days.
CBI officials said the probe remains active and further examination of financial transactions is underway.
