Swiggy MD Non-Bailable Warrant: Consumer Court Takes Strict Action

Swiggy MD non-bailable warrant issued in veg biryani complaint case

A district consumer commission issued a non-bailable warrant against the managing director of Swiggy and four others after they failed to follow court orders in a customer complaint case. The Swiggy MD non-bailable warrant case has now drawn major public attention.

The issue started when a customer from Kurnool ordered veg biryani through Swiggy from a local hotel. However, the parcel reportedly contained chicken pieces instead of vegetarian food. The customer, who follows a vegetarian diet, said the mistake caused mental distress. The Swiggy MD non-bailable warrant was issued after the company allegedly ignored compensation orders from the consumer commission.

Earlier, the commission directed Swiggy and the hotel management to pay Rs 55,000, including compensation and legal expenses. Officials reportedly failed to appear before the commission despite repeated notices. As a result, the court issued non-bailable warrants against the accused and postponed the next hearing to June 22.
