]]> In the Bihar election women candidates 2020, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) gave more importance to women compared to the Grand Alliance. The NDA, which includes BJP, JDU, LJP (R), HAM, and RLSP, together fielded 34 women candidates out of 243 seats. Both BJP and JDU contested 101 seats each, giving tickets to 13 women each. The LJP (R) fielded five women out of 29 seats, HAM gave two women tickets, and RLSP included one woman candidate.

The Grand Alliance, with seven parties, fielded 31 women out of 254 seats. Among them, RJD stood out by giving tickets to 23 women, the highest among all parties. The Congress nominated five, CPI(ML) one, and smaller allies like VIP and IIP also fielded one woman each, while CPI and CPI(M) had none.

Despite progress, women still received fewer tickets compared to their population share. However, the 2020 election saw a record 370 women contesting, with 26 winning and entering the Bihar Legislative Assembly. This shows slow but steady growth in women’s political representation.
