Amritsar, January 2, 2026: In a major development in the 328 Saroop case, Punjab Police has arrested Satinder Kohli, former Auditor of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC). The arrest relates to the missing saroops of Guru Granth Sahib, a matter that has deeply hurt Sikh sentiments.

Punjab Police produced Satinder Kohli before a court late on Wednesday night. The court granted a six-day police remand to allow further investigation. Officials said the remand will help them question Kohli in detail and verify records linked to the case.

According to the police, the 328 Saroop case involves serious lapses in the handling and auditing of sacred saroops. Investigators suspect that important documents and financial records may reveal how such a large number of saroops went missing.

Senior police officers said they will examine Kohli’s role during his tenure as SGPC Auditor. They will also question him about audit procedures, record maintenance, and internal checks. The police aim to identify responsibility and fix accountability.

The case has drawn strong reactions from Sikh organizations and community leaders. Many have demanded strict action and transparency. They say the issue concerns faith, trust, and respect for Sikh religious scriptures.

Punjab Police assured that the investigation will remain thorough and impartial. More arrests may follow as the probe progresses. Authorities said they will present all findings before the court.
