]]> The Backward Classes (BC) Bandh is being observed with great intensity across Telangana, as protests erupted early in the morning. From 4 a.m. onwards, BC association leaders took to the streets, staging sit-ins outside RTC bus depots and blocking bus services in multiple districts.

Leaders and cadres from various political parties — including the Congress, BRS, BJP, CPI, and CPM — have joined the agitation, lending widespread political backing. Protesters carried placards and shouted slogans demanding the implementation of 42% reservations for BCs in local body elections.

The bandh has affected public transport and traffic movement in several urban and rural areas, reflecting the strong solidarity among BC organizations. Police have been deployed in large numbers to prevent untoward incidents and maintain order during the state-wide shutdown.
