Former Punjab CM Charanjit Channi also hit out at Mann, alleging that internal rifts within AAP kept him away from relief efforts. While political parties like AAP and Congress fought for credit, the Sikh volunteers quietly stepped in. They laid stones, mixed cement, and provided meals to workers. “The wall may belong to a temple, but protecting a place of worship is everyone’s duty,” said Satnam Singh, a volunteer.

Congress leader KP Rana announced Rs 1.21 crore for repairs, and AAP minister Harjot Singh Bains launched Kar Seva with Rs 25 lakh sanctioned from disaster funds. Technical labour was also hired due to the challenging location near Nangal lake.

Yet, the real spirit came from the Sikh volunteers who worked tirelessly without banners or cameras. Locals were touched. “This is the Punjab I know,” said Rajesh Sharma, a shopkeeper.
