The new strategy aims to support low- and middle-income groups with financially accessible options. Officials said incentives for private builders, quicker approvals, and stronger public–private partnerships will play a major role.

Urban Local Bodies will identify suitable land and update planning norms to allow higher-density and mixed-use residential projects. The focus is on building compact, sustainable neighbourhoods close to transport, schools, and essential services.

The Housing Department will soon release the draft for public feedback, hoping the new approach will help improve living conditions for lakhs of families.
