]]> Perturbed by the preliminary findings of the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), Pushkaraj Sabharwal, father of late Captain Sumeet Sabharwal, has demanded a fresh probe into the Air India Ahmedabad plane crash. He argued that the absence of a formal enquiry under Rule 12, coupled with selective information released to the media, has damaged his son’s reputation and fundamental rights.

On June 12, tragedy struck when Air India’s Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner (AI171), bound for London Gatwick, crashed soon after takeoff from Ahmedabad. In one of the worst air accidents in India, 260 people, including 241 passengers, lost their lives. The incident shocked the nation and raised serious concerns about safety protocols and accountability.

Pushkaraj Sabharwal stressed that only a full-fledged investigation by the central government can bring out the truth. He believes that the preliminary AAIB inquiry presents an incomplete picture and unfairly tarnishes his late son’s image. Families of the victims, including his, continue to demand justice and transparency in the probe into the Air India Ahmedabad plane crash.

The call for a formal investigation has added new urgency to the case, putting pressure on the authorities to act decisively.
